This course on children’s risky play helps educators learn the core components, 好处, 和 safety measures in order to facilitate appropriate 和 beneficial risky play. Dr. 瑞秋Larimore, an expert in early childhood education, will guide you through learning to distinguish between hazards, 风险, 和恐惧. 的 course will also explore six broad types of risky play 和 how those are beneficial to children’s physical, 认知, 和 social-emotional development. 最后, the course will provide concrete strategies for supporting children’s risky play through things like site assessments, benefit-risk assessments, 和 protocol development for higher risk activities.

瑞秋一. Larimore, Ph值.D.,  is an educator, consultant, speaker, researcher, 和 author. Her work focuses on the intentional integration of nature to support young children’s holistic development by learning 与 nature to exp和 their worlds 和 live rich, 完整的生活. She has written multiple books including Establishing a Nature-Based Preschool, Preschool Beyond Walls: Blending Early Childhood Education 和 Nature-Based Learning, 和 the forthcoming Evaluating Nature: Evaluating Natureness: Measuring the Quality of Nature-based Classrooms in Pre-k Through 3rd Grade. 

Prior to founding Samara, she spent more than a decade starting 和 directing one of the first nature-based preschools in the United States. She also serves on the advisory board of the Natural Start Alliance, a professional association supporting nature-based educators.
